Play Spades: free partner trick-taking against three bots
Spades is a free card game for four players. You play with your partner Maya against two bots, Otto and Vera. Every player gets 13 cards. Spades are always trump, so the biggest spade wins a trick unless someone plays a higher one.
How a hand works
Bid. Each player says how many tricks they expect to win. You and Maya add your bids together to make your team contract. A bid of Nil means you promise to win no tricks at all.
Play. You must follow the suit that was led if you can. If you cannot, play any card. You cannot lead a spade until a spade has been played on another suit, unless you only hold spades.
Score. Make your contract and you score 10 points for each trick you bid, plus 1 point for each extra trick, called a bag. Miss it and you lose 10 points for each trick you bid. Every 10 bags costs 100 points. Nil made is +100 and Nil failed is -100.
Win. The first team to 500 points wins. You can change the target to 250 in Game options.
Options and helpers
Pick Easy, Normal or Hard bots at any time. In Game options you can let a team that falls to -200 lose, and allow Blind Nil, which lets you bid Nil before you look at your cards when you are 100 or more points behind. It pays 200 if you win no tricks and costs 200 if you win any. The Last trick button shows the trick that just finished, the card tracker shows which cards of a suit are still out, and the Partner and Trump check lets you compare two cards before you play one.
