Play Pixel Painter: draw pixel art or copy a sprite
Pixel Painter is a free pixel art maker. The canvas is a grid of little squares. You pick a colour and tap or drag to fill squares. There are two ways to play.
Free Paint
- Draw anything on a 16 by 16 grid, or a bigger 32 by 32 grid. Each size keeps its own drawing.
- Tools: Pen, Erase, Fill (floods one area), Pick (copies a colour from your drawing), Mirror (paints both halves at once) and Grid (shows or hides the lines).
- Choose from 12 colours, or pick any colour you like with the rainbow button. Undo and Redo go back and forward.
- Press Save PNG to download your picture. The Palette swap desk lets you swap one colour in your drawing for another, and shows a preview first.
Challenge
- Copy a small 8 by 8 sprite, square by square. There are eight to unlock: Heart, Pine Tree, Blue Fish, Mushroom, Smiley, Ghost, Sword and Rainbow. Finish one to open the next.
- A miss is a stroke that puts a wrong colour on a square. One miss or none earns 3 stars, two to four misses earn 2 stars, and more earn 1 star.
- Hint dots show the colour each wrong square needs. They are a help, but if you use them you can earn 2 stars at most.
Your drawings and stars save on this device in your browser, under pixel-painter:v1. There is no account and nothing to download except the PNG you choose to save. More creative games are on the Play in Phone hub.
