How to play Hearts online
Hearts is a trick-taking card game for four players. You play against three computer players, and the goal is to finish with the lowest score.
Tricks and points
- Each player gets 13 cards. A trick is one card from each player. The highest card of the suit that was led wins the trick and leads the next one.
- You must follow the led suit if you can. If you cannot, you may play any card.
- Every heart you take is 1 point. The Queen of Spades is 13 points. Points are bad, so you want to take as few as you can.
- Hearts cannot be led until a heart has been played on an earlier trick, unless you only hold hearts.
Passing and the start
Before each hand you pass 3 cards: to the left, then to the right, then across, then one hand with no pass. Whoever holds the 2 of clubs leads it to the first trick.
Shooting the moon
If one player takes all 26 points, they shoot the moon. Depending on your options, the others get 26 added to their score or the shooter has 26 taken off theirs.
Winning
When someone reaches the target score (100 by default), the player with the lowest score wins. Pick Easy, Normal or Hard to change how well the bots play. Keys: arrows and Enter pick a card, P passes, L shows the last trick, N starts a new game.
