How to play Color Fill
You get a square canvas cut into sections. Your job is to paint every section.
- Pick a paint colour under the canvas. On a keyboard, press 1 to 6.
- Tap a section. The whole section fills with that colour.
- Two sections that touch can never get the same colour. If you try, the section shakes and nothing is used up.
- Each colour can be poured only twice. Plan so you do not run out.
Undo, hints and stars
You start with 3 undos. Clearing a level gives you one more, up to 5. Press Hint (or H) and the game shows a safe pour, but it costs 25 points. If no paint left can legally fill the rest, you are stuck: undo a pour to carry on.
Clear a level to earn stars. Make no slips and you get 3 stars. A slip is a refused pour or an undo. A hint or a replay counts as two slips. With 1 or 2 slips you get 2 stars. More than that gives 1 star. Early levels have spare pours. By level 10 you have four colours and no spare paint at all, and after that three board types repeat: six colours, five colours and four colours. Your best level and total stars are saved on this device.
